mushroom grass macro photo

If you're reading this photoblog, you may already know that I have a small obsession with fungus. But if you didn't, well, consider yourself informed.

AND--you may notice that I no longer have a navbar (that thingie at the top that had the fancy B on the left). As such, the search option (that I love! and maybe you do too) is now located at the bottom. Consider yourself more informed.

fun macro... and well shot...

Really? As I look at this a second time, it seems to me that the highlight is totally blown out.

But okay, it is still kind of fun, even if the capture is technically lacking a bit. :)

well... hhmmmm... let me look again...

ok... you don't have a lot of detail there... but you do have tone/color... so, it isn't totally blown out...

for me, there is a point where the tone is pushed just a touch... where is, perhaps, a bit lighter than 'textbook'... where is "glows' a bit, that I find compelling... (i think i may have written all this before)... and this qualifies...

it doesn't have a lot of detail in the highlight... but it doesn't feel blown out... it feels illuminated... it feels luminescent... the retention of color/tone makes it work... or so I would argue...

and, in the end, rules be damned... it either works... or it doesn't... and i would say this is the former...
